Behind every successful temporary assignment lies the expertise of an operations officer.
Lilia Chebbi, Senior Operations Officer at Lyon Staffmatch, explains her role and what it means to work in the events industry.
Events and Recruitment: Lilia's Expertise
With a literary baccalaureate, Lilia oriented her studies towards management, where she was introduced to Human Resources. Driven by a passion for human relations, she turned to this field, discovering a sector of activity that fascinates her.
After obtaining her master's degree, Lilia began searching for a new position in recruitment and came across an offer for "Operations Officer" at Staffmatch.
"To be honest, temporary work didn't appeal to me much at first! But I still went to the interview, and I immediately loved the company!" she admits. "I think I was lucky to meet Tom, one of our gems at the Lyon agency, who presented the company well to me, and with whom the interview was very natural and spontaneous. I immediately understood that this position was everything I was looking for."
In 2021, Lilia joined Staffmatch. "As soon as I arrived, I was given a lot of trust and autonomy. This was one of the elements that helped me achieve my goals and evolve."
Quickly, her expertise earned her more responsibilities, and a year later, she was promoted to Senior Operations Officer, particularly in the events department.
🚀 "If I had to choose, I'd go straight back into temporary work!"
Over time, Lilia's assignments and clients have focused on events, even though it wasn't initially her preferred field. "It happened naturally, and now, I wouldn't change sectors for anything in the world."
Work to Break the Routine: Working in Events
"What I like about events is that you never get bored!", explains Lilia. This is how she expresses her attachment to this constantly evolving field. "Another major advantage of working in events is that once you're on site, you can also enjoy the event! It's a lively sector that you experience from A to Z."
However, events are also synonymous with unforeseen circumstances and last-minute changes. "There are always emergencies, but that's also what makes this environment so charming!"
Lilia's experience allows her to give paramount importance to stress management to best succeed in her assignments. "You have to anticipate the unexpected," she says, laughing. "Yes, it sounds illogical, but you have to imagine all possible scenarios and be prepared to face anything!" But she understands that it's not easy, especially when you're a beginner: "It's important to take 5 minutes to step back, put things into perspective, and not panic. Turning your stress into strength is key."
Lilia strongly encourages anyone interested in events to consider recruitment as a lever to enter the sector, build a network, and discover new perspectives. "We often hear that it's a saturated sector, but you shouldn't get discouraged. Recruitment is an effective way to access it, strengthen your network, and master one of the most important parts for setting up events."
🧐 Expert Advice: "Recruitment is a very accessible sector. Whether you have little experience or are looking to change sectors, it allows you to discover new perspectives."
