Last April 14th, Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne announced an increase in the minimum wage (SMIC) in the coming months.
Revalued for the second time in 2023, the SMIC increased by 2.22% starting May 1st, 2023.
Reminder: What is the SMIC?
By definition, the Minimum Growth Wage (SMIC) corresponds to the legal minimum hourly wage that an employee must receive.
The SMIC is revalued every year on January 1st, and two indicators are taken into account:
Thus, it may happen that the SMIC is automatically revalued during the year in addition to the revaluation in January, particularly when the consumer price index increases by at least 2%.
An increase of 2.22%
As of May 1st, 2023, the SMIC is set at €11.52 gross per hour compared to the amount set in January 2023 at €11.27 gross per hour.
💸 The SMIC will reach €1,747.20 gross per month, which is equivalent to a net salary of €1,383.08.
The SMIC in temporary work
By application of the principle "equal pay for equal work," there is no difference for permanent employees and temporary workers regarding the SMIC.
The only difference is that the monthly salary of a temporary worker is calculated by multiplying the hours worked by €11.52.
