As of November 1, 2024, the new Prime Minister, Michel Barnier, announced an increase in the SMIC (minimum wage) during his general policy speech on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
Revalued for the second time in 2024, the SMIC will increase by 2% from November 1, 2024, to cope with inflation.
Thus, the gross monthly SMIC will increase from €1,766.92 to €1,801.80, an increase of €34.88 gross. As for the net monthly SMIC, it will increase from €1,398.70 to €1,426.30, an increase of €27.60 net per month.
The gross hourly SMIC, for its part, will increase from €11.65 to €11.88.
Why a Revaluation as of November 1, 2024?
Usually, this increase occurs every January 1st to take into account the evolution of inflation. As announced by the Prime Minister, this increase is not a boost, but rather an anticipation of the annual revaluation of the SMIC. Thus, no new increase in the SMIC is expected on January 1, 2025. This measure concerns more than 17.3% of French employees.
The last increase in the SMIC was on January 1, 2024, when it was revalued by 1.13%.
This is the ninth increase in the SMIC since January 1, 2021, representing a total increase of 16% over this period.

The SMIC in Temporary Work
By application of the principle "equal work, equal pay", there is no difference between permanent employees and temporary workers regarding the SMIC. The only difference is that the monthly salary of the temporary worker is calculated by multiplying the hours worked by the hourly SMIC.
At Staffmatch, the revaluation of the SMIC will be taken into account automatically. There is no action to take to update your salary and payslips!
Staffmatch, the Temporary Employment Agency Committed to Your Purchasing Power
