On January 1st, 2024, the SMIC will undergo a new change.
A new increase that raises it from €11.52 to €11.65 gross per hour, representing a revaluation of 1.13%.
The SMIC therefore increases from €1,747.20 to €1,766.92 gross monthly, an increase of €19.72 gross.
Definition of SMIC (Minimum Interprofessional Growth Wage)
As a reminder, the Minimum Interprofessional Growth Wage, more commonly known as the SMIC, is the minimum hourly wage below which it is forbidden to pay an employee, regardless of the form of their remuneration (by time, output, task, piecework, commission, or tip). Since its creation in 1950, the SMIC has undergone numerous evolutions, which have helped to protect the most modest workers and maintain a certain standard of living for all.

*Several evolutions of the gross SMIC have been made during the year. The latest value to date is shown.
Will the SMIC increase again in 2024?
Although the government does not wish to communicate on any potential revaluation of the SMIC during 2024, there is a strong chance that it will be increased again.
With the rise in consumer prices, the government finds itself in a position where it must adjust the minimum wage to preserve purchasing power.
This was the case in 2023, when the SMIC saw two evolutions: one in January and one in May.
Since 2021, the SMIC has therefore undergone its eighth revaluation.
Is there a difference in the SMIC when doing temporary work?
No, there is no difference. The SMIC for temporary work is equal to the legal SMIC. Thus, the monthly salary of a temporary worker is calculated by multiplying the number of hours worked by €11.65 (SMIC rate in 2024).
For example, if a temporary worker completes an 80-hour assignment paid at the SMIC, the calculation will be as follows: 80 x €11.65 = €932 gross (the calculation does not include IFM).
At Staffmatch, the SMIC value is automatically adjusted. You don't need to do anything!
