Missions: Executive Assistant

Day-to-day work revolves around three pillars: time management, information quality, and coordination. The assistant orchestrates shifting calendars, prepares files in advance, gathers supporting documents, formats materials, and checks that everything is ready at the agreed time. They filter inbound requests, prioritise what is urgent and what is important, and ensure every action is logged in a follow-up plan. Meetings are framed beforehand, minutes are sent promptly, and decisions and deadlines are tracked through to completion. During key periods such as a fundraising round, an audit, a strategy committee, or international travel, the assistant becomes the management team’s operational anchor, liaising with internal teams and external partners.

Skills and training

The role relies on flawless coordination and constant attention to detail. The assistant can structure a complex schedule, prepare a dossier from A to Z, and maintain a clear communication thread among multiple stakeholders. They master document formatting, spreadsheets, and presentations, handle travel with all logistical constraints, and make sure every sensitive point is anticipated. Rigour is paired with discreet political sense: protecting leadership time without blocking the organisation, reframing messages to ease collaboration, and escalating at the right moment with verified information. All of this rests on excellent spelling, strong writing skills, and the ability to stay calm when the pace accelerates.

Salary of an Executive Assistant

Compensation depends on the level of responsibility to the executive team or a business unit, language proficiency, and company type. At the start of a career, it is generally €2,000 to €2,400 gross per month in the regions and €2,300 to €2,900 gross in the Paris area. With greater autonomy, proven writing quality, and the management of sensitive files, the package often rises to €30k to €38k gross per year. Experienced, bilingual profiles exposed to executive committees typically reach €40k to €50k gross per year, possibly complemented by 5% to 12% variable pay based on service quality objectives. In temporary work, the 10% end of assignment allowance and the 10% paid leave compensation are added to gross pay and increase the overall amount received. As an example, €2,800 gross per month often corresponds to about €2,160 to €2,200 net, excluding bonuses, depending on contributions.

Work Environment

The position sits at the heart of the organisation, in direct proximity to leadership and in constant interaction with teams. Days alternate between meticulous preparation, managing unexpected events, and careful follow-up of actions. Wider working hours may be required during key deadlines, and some remote work may be possible depending on tools and company culture. The expected posture is both firm and considerate: enforcing priorities while maintaining excellent relationships.

Career Progression: Executive Assistant

With experience, an executive assistant can move into senior office management, executive assistant to the CEO, coordination of cross-functional projects, or junior chief of staff roles. Depending on interest, there are pathways into internal communications, executive events, sales administration, or project management when analysis and steering skills have been developed.
