The salary of a valet

The salary of a valet is often a subject that raises questions. At the start of a career, the remuneration is generally at the level of the SMIC (minimum wage in France), i.e., €1,801.80 gross per month in 2025. However, it is important to take into account tips, which can represent a significant part of a valet's income. The amount of tips varies considerably depending on the type of establishment, the clientele, and the quality of service offered. In some luxury establishments, tips can double or even triple the base salary. With experience and customer loyalty, a valet's salary can increase. An experienced valet recognized for their professionalism can earn up to €2,600 net per month. Some high-end establishments also offer benefits in kind, such as coverage of transport costs or meals.
